Description

Experimental Game Design is an introductory course aimed at assisting students in exploring their unique artistic language in game-making, gaming concepts, psychology, aesthetics, and beyond. The definition of "games" is broad and inclusive, encompassing traditional gaming mediums, such as video and physical games, alongside non-traditional ones interwoven with game elements, such as interactive film, performance, books, and other art forms.
Through lectures, activities, and self-guided projects, students will develop their personal artistic styles, fields of interest, and thematic concerns. At the conclusion of the course, students will have created playful and playable works, and will have experienced integrating concepts of game design into their own practice. The course will emphasize how game and play can serve as a fresh and unique perspective to enrich their future creative path.
