Description
A puzzle is something puzzling - it expects
deduction and solution, while at the same time
describes a condition of open confusion. The
Puzzling class uses screenings, readings, and
group discussion to examine the idea of film as a
puzzle. The course focuses on films that
explicitly engage with puzzle structures, films
that grapple with the world as a puzzle to be
solved, and films that resist solution. Students
will view weekly programs, engage in
post-screening seminar discussions, and create
several short pieces in pursuit of insights into
puzzles and tests.
