Description
In this course, students will use some old
photographs from their family as a starting
point. They will proceed to add collages and
hand-colored and build up stories based on their
personal memories. Afterwards, students could try
to get images from different sources such as the
Internet, magazines, social media, second-hand
markets or found footage to add to their stories.
These images are combined with the old
photographs in the form of paintings, sketches,
collages, screen printing, etc. to create a
hand-made "family album" to complete the
construction of their personal memories.
In the second half of the semester, students
continue to develop the story clues, supplement
missing parts of their memories with sounds or
moving image, and find out the most appropriate
"language" to express themselves. Eventually, the
project will be completed within an animated
short film, performance or video installation.
