Description

Interruptions happen - augmented realty - &@!#.
Like this. Like that.
We have become a culture of interruption, where
ruptures in the flow of time-based experience
have become the norm. Our social media can
interrupt daily endeavors, while augmented
reality can disrupt spatiality, beacon-ing new
art practices. Yet cinema and media arts in
general have not fully responded to our immersion
in an interruptive reality. We will.
In this course, we will examine and utilize
strategies, devices, and tactics inspired by and
responding to interruptions. Work may be in any
medium and will likely develop across many media,
traditional and non, becoming metamedia.
Approaches to augmented reality and social gaming
will be presented. Open to the Institute.
