Symbiotic Puppet Fabrication

In the corporate studio setting puppets are
designed and fabricated from the conscious part of
the brain. Designs are often limited because of
mass production or its ability to stay within the
realms of the approved style guide. But what if
there were no limitations? In this class we
explore both the art and the craft of puppet
fabrication. We discover what happens when you
design from the unconscious, artistic part of the
brain and let art define the puppet build. How by
lifting the conscious restraints of the mind will
establish a character that is physically and
emotionally in sync with its true self. We explore
design approaches such as wabi sabi, rhythmic
fabrication, and how designing from the meditative
storytelling part of the brain unlocks great
potential to create truly unique one of a kind
puppets.

Students should expect to spend approx $50-$100 on
additional course materials and project supplies.
