Description
Experimental Characters explores animation techniques that utilize drawn figures to push aesthetic boundaries and express deeper emotional truths. Weekly readings, screenings, and lectures will provide the framework for in-depth discussions of the form, theory, and psychology of characters within a broad range of animation and film contexts. Assignments and critiques will challenge students to interpret these themes using drawn animation, which embraces the use of experimental methods, various mediums, and movement references.
