Production Student Technician Course

The Production Technician Course - formerly Video
Studio TA Class - is taught in conjunction with
the Post Production Student Technician Course and
Sound Student Technician Course. An
objective of these courses is to expand the
knowledge-base of the student body in the more
technical aspects of filmmaking. Another objective
of this group of courses is to give students the
opportunity to assist others as a Student
Technician. By assisting others, students will
gain a hands-on understanding of contemporary
Production, Post Production, and Sound paradigms
and procedures. While successful completion of
these courses does qualify you to work as a
Student Technician in the respective area of the
course, it does not guarantee employment.
This course is designed to create a knowledge base
both specific to the functions of the CalArts
production studios and usable in any film or
electronic motion imaging production environment
that will allow the student to function as an
independent filmmaker and proactively solve
problems encountered during production.
