Description
This class is an in-depth study of movement and composition through both sound and image. The potential for movement is one of the main distinguishing features of time-based practices, perhaps most of all in filmmaking. To
explore this we will consider the way movement is perceived through the senses and encourage creative uses of camera movement, sound and blocking through class exercises and assignments. In workshops you will be introduced to various production techniques and equipment related to camera movement and sound. The class will also have a screening and discussion component, where student projects and a diverse range of audio-visual pieces will be viewed and discussed. Areas covered will include movement and perception, embodied camera, choreographed camera movement, movement and sound, movement and machine, movement and architecture.
