Description

This is a course on curating film, video,
performance and installation; how creative
programming can integrate and amplify individual
works within larger contexts and help build
communities for the experience and appreciation of
this kind of art.

The course is only available by permission of
instructor.

Students will explore and discuss the practice of
curating moving image art works, either within a
theatrical, gallery or other public setting.

We will explore the concept and practice of
exhibiting (or sharing) film, video and other
projectable media in all kinds of settings as this
has been done over the past century as well as in
the myriad ways moving imagery is part of
contemporary culture.

Students will be asked to write a research paper
and curate a program for the class. In addition
to gaining knowledge and first-hand experience in
curating, they will learn to publicize an event,
prepare program notes and present programs to
audiences.
