Description
In this course, students will learn editing
techniques and methodology using Avid Media
Composer through lectures and hands on exercises.
Topics will include: media organization,
ingesting, transcoding, three point editing,
trimming, sound editing, working with effects,
color correction, titles, output, compression, and
delivery, as well as techniques specific to
digital to 16mm workflow, such as creating handles
and pull lists. In addition, editing theory,
history, and aesthetics will be covered. This
class provides students with the knowledge to edit
16mm footage from a telecine in Avid and then go
back to a 16mm film print. Students who are
interested in taking Finishing on 16mm film may
take this class before or at the same time as
Finishing on 16mm. However, students who seek a
basic introduction to Avid but are not working on
16mm are welcome in the class. Students must have
an external hard drive.
