Description

Symposium is designed for all levels of the FDP
program; it is a common place for the entire
student and faculty community to discuss the
shifting landscape of making and thinking about
narrative practice in film. It contemplates the
breadth of methodologies taught in the program
through interactions with visiting filmmakers and
the faculty in focused discussion around their
ways of conceiving, making, producing and
distributing work.

Supplementing these conversations will be
program-wide dialogues about the role of the
maker, the politics of making, and the way that
the recent constraints of the pandemic have
altered ideas of making and exhibiting. In
addition, as a multinational community of makers
we hope to discuss how citizenship, race and
identity affect our diverse and complex
experiences and the systems we operate within.

The class is conceived as a community dialogue;
while it will be facilitated by the faculty,
students are equal co participants and expected to
be part of developing this evolving dialogue.
