Description
An introduction to film and video techniques,
this is a practical course on the concepts and
uses of the various elements of filmmaking; both
technical and conceptual. These include the use
of cameras, lens and perspective, concepts of
cinematography, elementary lighting, basic set
protocols, and various postproduction paths. The
course will also discuss various modes and models
of production and distribution, and the ways that
each implements and affects the development of
story, process, and politics. In conjunction with
FD 528A Technical Workshop, students will
complete several small exercises in shooting and
editing to help practice and integrate material
covered in class.
