Description
This seminar is an attempt to reflect critically
on our past/recent/or current experience of the
Covid 19 pandemic, and acquire critical tools to
think about life, filmmaking, writing and art
making in a situation of confinement or
quarantine. Even though the confinement might be
over - at least in California - it has profoundly
affected our memory, our sense of the self and the
other. We will discuss the concepts of door,
window, perspective, vista, entrance and exit, the
intimate, the blocked gaze (analyzing the role of
the off-screen space); as well as the relationship
between the inside and the outside, between seeing
and hearing; surveillance, autonomy and freedom;
architecture, memory, gender, and subjectivity.
