Description
This course covers the history of character
animaation, mainly focusing on the American
studio system. It focuses on studio and
individual styles, as well as the influences of
technological development, other arts, and
historical events (including political and
sociological shifts). Students will be exposed to
a wide range of examples through screenings in
each class and they will engage in critical
discussion in class and within course papers. A
flipbook project demonstrates the student's
knowledge of basic animation principles. Course
receives Critical Studies credit in the Arts in
Context (AIC) category.
