Description
From the beginning, women and underrepresented
groups have held a strong presence within
animation, yet when examining history, minimal
emphasis is placed on their contributions. The
truth is, throughout most of the 20th century,
leading women artists established, defined and
expanded the animated art form, yet very little is
recorded of their work, and their films are rarely
examined.
This first-of-its-kind course delves into these
artists and their artistic contributions within
the animated art form. Through lecture,
screenings, presentations and guest speakers,
students will achieve a comprehensive
understanding of this previously invisible half of
our collective animated past.
Students should expect to spend approx $60 on
additional materials and supplies.
