Description

Fourteen Questions to Jean-Luc Godard. There will
be additional spaces available at Course Advising
Day.

Since 1960 till his death in 2022, Jean-Luc Godard
directed more than 100 features, shorts, series,
essay films, television programs, etc. It would be
futile to try and teach such complex and abundant
oeuvre in one, even two semesters. The course will
be articulated around points of entry to the work,
formulated as questions to Godard.

The questions will be chosen among the following
ones: How and why did you start making films? /
What is a woman? / What is a young girl? / What is
an actress? / What is love? / What are the ethics
of political representation? / How to represent
contemporary youth? / What is a cultural icon? /
What is your relationship to the history of
cinema? / What is autobiography? / What is
montage? / What is language? / What is the
relationship between sound and image? / What is an
image?
