Description

What can drawing look like in 3D space? How can it be combined aesthetically with traditionally-modeled 3D objects? This course explores the Grease Pencil functionality of Blender and how it can be used to create detailed animation. Beginning with an introduction to Grease Pencil as a 2D animation tool, the course will progress into advanced applications, such as using Grease Pencil to create hair that follows a character, lighting concerns, and rotoscoping 3D objects with 3D linework on a frame-by-frame basis. Each student is encouraged to apply the skills learned to a creative investigation of their own choosing, which will be presented as a culminating project. Class time will include group demonstrations, screenings, one-on-one guidance, and group feedback.
