Description
Afrofuturism: Engineering the Future Through Storytelling and Imagination.
This course invites students to explore the transformative power of Afrofuturism by examining its intersection with science, technology, and culture. Through analyzing groundbreaking stories and engaging with emerging technologies, students will see how speculative narratives have shaped real-world innovations--from space travel to digital evolution. The course will empower students to use storytelling as a tool for imagining a future of equity, sustainability, and liberation, focusing on how technologies like AI and XR can advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By the end of the course, students will have created their own AI-based tools and visions of a future where Black voices lead the way in technological and cultural innovation.
