Cognitive Foundations in Arts Education

Students will learn about cognitive development in children and adolescents as related to arts learning , theories of learning in the arts and current research on creativity and imagination. Students will apply these theories to their experience of studying the arts to inform the development of a teaching philosophy. This course will contribute to students' preparation for teaching in K-12 and postsecondary settings.
