Description
This course explores, creates, and furthers
dialogue between those interested in all aspects
of human vocal expression: practitioners,
students, faculty, artists, scholars, researchers,
and scientists. House of Voices allows for the
opportunity to encounter ancestral voice practices
of the World, such as: traditional chants from the
Indian Nations, Flamenco cante hondo, Japanese Noh
theater, Buddhist Shomio chanting, Ukrainian
traditional Polyphony, Throat singing from
Mongolia and Tuva, Civil Rights Songs, Gullah
stick Pounding and Song, Persian tradition,
Balinese Monkey Chant, Spirituals, Spokane Indian
Song Tradition, Dhrupad tradition of India.
