Description
The Bake-Off is a tool to help writers write a
first draft quickly. Originally created by
playwright Paula Vogel, the Bake-Off distills some
essential components of artistic creation: a
deadline, commitment, focus, and community. Some
people have called it a method for getting out of
your own way.
At the top of the Writing for Performance:
Bake-Off, participants will receive a "recipe" of
ingredients for a new play. They will have
48-hours to write and then the full group will
gather to celebrate and hear spontaneous cold
readings of the new works.
Ingredients for the 2020 Writing for Performance:
Bake-Off will be solicited from faculty throughout
the Institute.
