Description
Worlds at Play is a special topics studio, asking
how the practices of experience design enhance,
complicate, and reinvent the environments of play
- for children, youth, adults, and beyond. The
class explores a wide spectrum of perspectives on
play - from gaming to adventure playgrounds, from
the evolutionary biology of dolphins to the
Situationists, from urban landscape to hactivism.
Students will develop three major projects over
the course of the semester.
Special Topics courses are designed as
portfolio-bearing studios for designers wanting to
work on developing larger scale environmental
designs. We focus on scenography as an expanded
field of practice - developing skills of
concept-creation, analysis and image-making.
