Law and Contracts for the Arts will explore
contracts and key topics in entertainment law.
This course is designed as a deeper exploration of
contracts and their application in theater
organization and production. In the course,
students will examine, evaluate and create
contracts for a number of producing scenarios
including engaging artists, commissioning work,
and co-productions. Through working in a hands on
practice, students will gain knowledge of contract
terminology and contractual rights. Additionally,
students will learn about key topics in
entertainment law including contract, copyright,
trademarks, business structures, profit vs.
non-profit models, and theatrical productions.
