Description
The course will spend 6 weeks designing and
fabricating a portable room inspired by epistles
that demand to be heard in a space created
specifically for the purpose of 'sending news'.
We will begin by revisiting the practice of
reading letters, historical and contemporary.
Unlike tweets, texts and emoticons, these letters
demand close reading; time spent discovering
nuance and hidden messages. We will then devise
a 'room' in which to read, listen to and 'stay
with' the letters perhaps revealing the intimate
relationship between place and thought.
This course is open to Design and Production
Foundation students through online signup, and
open to the institute through permission of
instructor at Course Advising Day.
