This course will explore techniques for sculpting costumes in 3-dimensions. Whereas most clothing relies on the human body to give it shape, sometimes a designer may seek to modify or enhance the shape of an actor's body to create a particular effect. This can be done subtly, so the audience is unaware of the change, or it can be greatly exaggerated for a comical or surreal effect. Careful planning is necessary to create a costume that achieves the desired look while remaining practical and functional.
