Costume Techniques: Body Padding and Rigging for
3-Dimensional Costume Design
Using the torso sloper created in Costume
Techniques: Torso Sloper, we will explore the
process used in padding for the body. First we
will identify the changes in the natural body
shape we wish to achieve and the movements
necessary for the performer. Then, we will explore
traditional and non-traditional materials,
construction techniques, tailoring and millinery
adaptations, soft sculpture, foam and other
specialized techniques used on 3D body padding.
