For those who seek in film viewing an altered
state, a weekly exploration of the ten thousand
emotional gradients between ecstasy and horror. An
eclectic, associational hopscotch through the
length and breadth of film history in which we
sample the intoxicating pleasures of narrative and
experimental, silence and sound, the short and the
long, the purple and the prosaic, B/W and
technicolor, melodrama and realism, the maximalist
and the minimal, the overwrought and the
understated, the hieroglyphic and the direct, the
