Description
Course open to BFA2 Acting Program students only.
The Fall semester of the BFA 2 Speech year
intensifies the study of the International
Phonetic Alphabet as well as the practice of
transcription, sound production and execution of
Good Speech, in the tradition of Edith Skinner.
Students become familiar with Classic American
Stage Speech. Greater emphasis is placed on the
application of those skills to text. Classical
and heightened - language texts are used to
facilitate the development of the skills, with
particular focus being given to Shakespearean
text. Students are also taught the traditional
pronunciations in Elizabethan language.
