consultation with a faculty mentor and the
Doctoral Policy Committee, key research areas
will be identified that are relevant to the
interests and foci of the student's work.
Intensive guided research and study of these
topics will inform ongoing creative work, and
constitute an intellectual and practical
foundation for it. Topic-driven research will
promote wide-ranging and deep knowledge
appropriate to each student's creative interests
and objectives.
