Description
This course provides an introduction to the structure of tonal music, exploring harmonic function, sequences, cadences, modulations, simple forms, and systems of consonance and dissonance. Musical examples are drawn from pop, jazz, Latin, and Western classical traditions. Assignments will involve writing music and the use of a keyboard.
