Generative Art

This course examines the medium of computational
visual arts, providing
an overview of its history and the technical
knowledge used in the creation
of its significant artworks. Beginning with the
foundations of computer
graphics in the 1970s, we will explore movements
including the demoscene
hackers of the 1980s and glitch artists of the
2000s. Using TouchDesigner,
an industry standard software tool for creating
digital media art, students
will learn strategies used in each of these eras
and implement these
techniques to create new visual works in the field
of computer graphics.
