History of Electronic Dance Music

In this course we will examine the history of
various styles of electronic dance music from the
'70s to present time. We will learn where these
genres came from, and how they led to the
development of modern day dance music styles.
We'll also explore the various production methods
and equipment used to create these genres and dive
into what made them unique. In the class students
will compose different pieces as we move through
the evolution of different moments in dance music
history learning how one style or city influenced
the sound and culture of an entire planet. Over
the years I have been fortunate enough to travel
the world learning first hand from legendary
producers and have been lucky enough to perform
and collaborate with many of them. Let's learn
from these pioneers who have paved the way and
create the next wave of electronic dance music
together.
