Description
All-Inclusive Music: A Multi-Pedagogical Journey
of Composition & Improvisation
This class is aimed at examining non-traditional
methods of music composition & approaches to
improvisation that allow for individuals of any
training or pedagogical background to access
without necessarily diminishing one's artistic
vision. We will examine the works of various
living composers, ranging from graphic notation,
to text scores & beyond. Students will have one
major assignment with class writings/discussions.
The ultimate goal of this class is to have each
student's piece performed and documented in class.
The most important aspect of this class is that it
is open to all and meant to be a place for
analysis of sound that can be combined with
compositional practices that allow for
inclusivity.
