Description
Grant Writing for Artists will provide students
with a basic introduction to grant writing,
hands-on experience preparing a grant application
in a workshop setting, and critical discussion
around the history and cultural practices related
to funding arts organizations in the US. Students
will gain tools to understand funding structures
of granting organizations, research grant
opportunities, prepare supporting materials
including work samples and budgets, and craft an
application that will highlight their strengths
and amplify their story. Each student will write
and workshop a grant application over the course
of the semester, with the goal of creating a final
document that can be submitted for a real world
funding opportunity. Grant Writing for Artists is
presented in collaboration between the CalArts
Writing Center, Center for Life and Work, and the
Herb Alpert School of Music.
