DMA First-Year Review

Before the end of the first academic year in
residence, each DMA student must engage in a
comprehensive artistic, academic and pedagogical
review with his/her Doctoral Examining
Committee (DEC). The DEC will consider the
following topics, and may request additional
items or supplements as appropriate for each
student's academic and artistic trajectory.
. creative and artistic progress
. coursework completed
. breadth and depth of knowledge relevant to
field
. pedagogical development and teaching outcomes
. communication skills (written, oral, etc.)
. progress in relation to the DMA Program
