Description
In this course, we will discover the concert hall
as an instrument. Instead of understanding the
hall as a shell that provides a space for
performers and audiences to engage with music, we
will research the venue's acoustic properties,
analyze its sonic relation to the surrounding
environment, and explore options to actually
"play" the hall without adding any sound sources.
In the end, we will create and perform a piece
specific to the hall.
Be prepared to listen, open and close windows and
doors, excite surfaces, microphone and amplify,
play lights and other infrastructure. Musical
training is not required. Curiosity is.
