Description
The Folk Singing Ensemble, led by graduate student
Elizabeth Ann Setzer, will delve into folk singing
traditions from the Balkans, the Caucasus, and
beyond. Through weekly rehearsals, virtual and
in-person workshops with guest artists, and
research/practice outside of ensemble rehearsals,
we will prepare for a culminating performance at
the end of the semester. We will look at the
context in which folk traditions are passed on
through generations and beyond their cultural and
physical places of origin. No prior singing
experience is necessary.
