Description

Students will collaborate in small groups over the two weeks to create and workshop an original work (of any medium) that integrates and explores the Alexander Technique. The Alexander Technique is a mind-body unity work meant to help students understand how they respond to emotional and physical stimuli in their day to day life, and deepen their awareness of the habitual patterns that affect these responses. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to the three main principles of Alexander Technique (inhibition, direction, and awareness) and will be allowed to explore the hands-on side of the technique, which uses non-manipulative, physical touch to bring awareness and attention to a person's response to external stimuli. The course will culminate in a showcase of their original work. Students of all artistic practices will be welcomed. No prior experience with the Alexander Technique is necessary.
