Description
How have we-as individuals and as a collective
society-coped with the pandemic throughout the
last two years? Between unrivaled layoffs and pay
reductions, remote work, travel bans, political
divisiveness, elevated/more visible racism,
isolation, and loss of life on an unparalleled
scale, self-care and stability have never been
challenged so abruptly. Community activism has
been reactivated in the face of social injustices
made more obvious in the pandemic, and prompted
reflection about moving from mere survival into
thriving. These challenges also offered the
opportunity to re-envision life personally and
professionally, which invited individuals and
communities to embrace their sense of agency in
wellness. This course will consist of honest and
open conversation surrounding methods of
cultivating/maintaining work/life balance and
preservation of physical and mental health.
Activities such as journaling, meditating, and
walking will be encouraged, and stories of
individual strategies to manage such vast life
transitions since the start of the pandemic will
be shared. This course is led by staff members of
Health & Wellness, the Patty Disney Center for
Life & Work, and guest speakers.
