Description
This three-day, immersive workshop introduces
students to the concept of "social sculpture," a
phrase coined by Joseph Beuys the idea that
society is an art work that we all can shape. And
invites them to conceive the first stages of their
own work in this field. We will invite
participants to focus their ideas in relationship
to the concept of Eco-Consciousness + a
Sustainable Future.
This hands-on, intensive seminar fosters
collaborative, trans-disciplinary approaches to
real world challenges. Students across disciplines
and genres will learn innovative techniques that
will help them harness their "artistic"
imagination as well as study current and
historical examples of social sculpture in
practice. A number of sessions will feature social
sculpture artists, who will present projects and
engage with the students.
