Description

Students will learn about physical, cognitive, and social and emotional development in children and adolescents as related to arts learning, theories of learning in the arts, and current research on topics related to creativity, identity, and motivation in the arts. Students will apply these theories to their experience of studying the arts to inform: 1) the development of a teaching philosophy; and 2) the creation of developmentally appropriate activities and differentiation plans for use in their future teaching. This course will contribute to students' preparation for teaching in K-12 and postsecondary settings.
