Description
A course in discussing and developing artistic
ideas and projects in relation to Solarpunk and
Hacktivism. This class will discuss optimistic
"futuring," imagining creative solutions for the
world's problems using art, data, and our
imagination.
Solarpunk is a nascent movement of ideas and
culture that embodies aesthetics and functionality
in science and the creative process, allowing us
to imagine a post-capitalist world with strong
reconnections to nature and technology. This class
will have students create ideas and works that
embody these values and themes.
The course will also discuss and tackle elements
of Hacktivism, using open source data as methods
for art making and ways data usage can allow us to
examine society and power.
