Description
CalArts' annual Halloween event has grown from a
party with some bands to a themed story telling
experience centered around the main dance party in
Main Gallery. In this class, we will create as
story for the event that will be carried through
arrival to exit, including designing the entrance,
the Main Gallery stage, a beer room, a "chill
room", and the outdoor smoking area. Once the
story is developed, the designers working on the
spaces will create designs for the space that
communicate the story through scenic, lighting,
and audio elements. Additionally, students will
work on graphic design and marketing strategies
for the party and keeping the theme clear and
build anticipation for the event. Once the theme
and story are determined, and designs have begun,
the class will work on drafting, budgeting, and
securing necessary vendors for each space.
