only. Unlike live action filmmaking the "puppet"
actors in a stop motion film need to be designed
and constructed by the filmmaker. This class will
introduce students to a variety of fabrication
techniques and materials both old and new used in
building puppets for animated films. Through a
series of demonstrations, reference clips and
assignments students will learn how different
materials can be used to create flexible puppets
for varied looks and function. During the process
they will begin to understand how the personality
of their puppet character guides the choice of
the construction technique.
