Description

This course will introduce students from across
the Institute to the basic principles of
observational life drawing. We will focus on
drawing many forms of animate and inanimate
subject matter, including human models. There are
no prerequisites, and we welcome students who have
no prior experience with life drawing.

We will begin by building a basic understanding of
light and shadow, progress to applying this
understanding to basic shapes, and then to the
human form. Students can expect to explore their
artistic skills, and express the world around them
through the techniques taught in class. The skills
practiced in this class will be applicable across
a range of métiers at CalArts.
