Ignite the Creative Process - Strategies

UG - Undergraduate

Open to all schools and year levels, this interdisciplinary class will investigate and actively engage students in strategies, games and exercises from the Surrealists (Leonora Carrington, Andre Breton), the Fluxus Movement (Ben Patterson, Yoko Ono), Pauline Oliveros, Brian Eno, Viola Spolin, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, Simone Forti, R. Murray Schafer, and others. Insight into background and history will be offered, but most of our class time will be for auditioning and interrogating a broad spectrum of exercises that propose to foster imagination and creativity. Along the way, students will choose exercises to incorporate into their own work, examining the effects and presenting the results.
