Description
'Pilates for Dancers: Movement Mastery & Injury Resilience' is a Pilates-based course designed specifically for dancers, with an in-depth focus on proper alignment and healthy biomechanics. This Pilates-based mat class will empower students in the CalArts School of Dance to learn how to use Pilates as a form of effective cross-training that supports the longevity and sustainability of their careers. Throughout the semester, the course will cover the "core principles" of Pilates that will help students prevent and rehabilitate from injuries, build stability and strength at all the joint spaces, increase healthy mobility, and become more efficient and intelligent dancers. This course requires students to attend class once in week in a dance studio for 1 hour and 15 minutes, as well as complete a 30-45 minute video module on the CalArts School of Dance Wellness Portal on a weekly basis. Mats and all necessary props for class will be provided for class each week.
