Description
Contemporary Dance Lab:
Investigation of culture, aesthetics, and identity
in contemporary dance.
Contemporary Dance Lab is a trans-disciplinary
course that combines a rigorous creative movement
practice and theoretical inquiry. This course will
investigate the roles of culture, aesthetics, and
identity at play within embodied movement
expression. The collective cohort will reimagine
intersections of the body, race, gender,
sexuality, and decolonization in performance and
contemporary dance. This course will interrogate
hegemonic forms of movement knowledge
acquisition/production, inquiry, and aesthetics.
