Description

The Conscious Dancer is a movement practice that
supports a holistic, visceral, and embodied
understanding of the body in motion. By exploring
dance and physical action through the
supplementation of a wide variety of modalities
(somatic practices, anatomical concepts, imagery,
evolutionary-based movement patterns,
improvisation and community based experiences),
students will come away with tools to uncover
obstacles to physical, mental, emotional, and
creative connectedness while building a
personalized movement and grounding practice that
supports a healthy nervous system and balanced,
integrated whole. This is predominantly an
activity course with intermittent discussion and
reflection. While it is created with dancers in
mind, it is by no means limited to only those with
dance experience, and has a wide scope of
application for all.
