Description
Dance Film Foundations provides a theoretical and
practical overview of the dance and motion-picture
hybrid. Through viewings, lectures, and
discussion, dance students consider historical and
contemporary ways of translating and capturing
movement cinematically, including the manipulation
of time and space, perspective, illusion, and
more. Students will practice shooting, editing,
and presenting movement using a variety of image
capture, editing, and presentation tools - both
prosumer and ubiquitous. Dance students will
leave this course prepared for more effective
collaborations with filmmakers, along with basic
tools to create promotional materials, social
media content, and films of their own.
