Description
This contemporary dance workshop explores a mix of
skills from contact improvisation, group lifting,
group partnering, weight-sharing, flying and
catching. We will learn conditioning skills
associated with athletic dancing, as well as how
to safely lift one another and be lifted. We will
develop nuanced and thoughtful partnering skills
with higher aspirations to garner more compassion
in the way we dance, and relate to our fellow
dance partners. The goal of this class is to
introduce these skills to the trained dancer as a
means to widen their tool belt, giving them a
strong foundation and a competitive edge in the
dance world. We will begin this class with
improvisation and slowly build to setting
material. Prior experience in partnering is highly
encouraged.
